Ikea Vaxer LED plant light
My living room typically has a lot of light, most of it indirect, but about 2-3 hours of direct light in the afternoon. It's bright shade, basically.
A wrinkle: Hurricane Harvey knocked down my fence. until the fence is repaired, I am reluctant to open my blinds all day (as I did before) because of the lack of privacy. So for now, my living room is middle shade, until those 3 hours of direct sunlight in the afternoon. I need some supplemental lighting to get me through until the fence is repaired.
I love watching YT orchid videos, so when Michael of Michael's Orchids recommended the Ikea Vaxer, I decided to try it. I bought one bulb and have it set up over my most light-needy orchids, except for my Oncidium Heaven Scent 'Sweet Baby', which is in another room getting full, direct sun all morning (and loving it.)
I honestly cannot tell if it's "working" for the plants or not. I mean, it's only been a few weeks since I bought it. On some days I also set up my Ott craft light to shine onto the plants as well.

Those IKEA lamps look to be pretty good, but will need to be pretty close to the plants for it to do any good. For a sole source of light, I'd say no more that 20-30 cm - maybe closer - depending upon the needs of the plants.

I have one in the spare room. Not exactly the same, as supplemental light it worked well. I'm anxious to try that particular bulb, as it was highly recommended my another OB member. But, if my bulb is any proof, something is better than nothing.
Hurricane Harvey?

Oh, okay. I wish I didn't have to display a flag, the one I would choose was not available. I chose Djibouti because it is fun to say.
I live in the US on the Gulf Coast.

I wouldn't use it as a sole source of light. It is right above my oncostele, but not as close to the two phals next to the oncostele, just because they aren't as tall. I have only had the oncostele for a week but it is continuing to develop buds. I am hoping this situation won't continue for more than another month.

The flag is to let people know where you live so that appropriate advice can be given. You don't have to give your exact location but it is in your best interest that people have a general idea of your climate/geographical location.

But the USA has a wide variety of climates and geographical locations. So a US flag is useless in that respect. I can add my location to my sig though, thanks for the idea!

I don't understand why you don't want to have the correct flag?
In your profile you can add location and it'll show at the top when you post. Look at mine, you'll see what I mean.
Ok, so what's the deal? Why not just use the correct country? What's with the secrecy? Are you a wanted criminal? LOL

Just be equally forthcoming with orchid advice!
