Awesome LED Light Burned Out-Need Replacement

Hello,

Less than a year ago I purchased the LED light shown in the photo. Today, I found it had burned out I'm super bummed, this was an awesome light! I purchased it from Ray less than a year ago and I have no idea what happened. It was working when I left the house this morning, and burned out when I got home.

Anyway, I'm looking for replacement suggestions. Something that I can get ASAP. I'm growing in an indoor plant house set-up so the replacement needs to be able to tolerate a humid environment. Please advise!

Damn, I'm sorry to heat that. If I'm not mistaken, that's the last one they made - certainly the last one I had in stock.

I would speculate it was a failed driver. If you disassemble the lamp, you may be able it replace it. That's a 36 watt lamp.

Thanks, Ray. I disassembled the light and took a look. I am not handy enough to be able to fix the blown area but I can tell where it is. Not sure if someone at a hydroponics store would be able to help me or not but I might try.

Since this is the second light system that's blown on me I'm thinking it's my conditions. Last year I had a T5 ballast blow and now this. Do you have any other recommendations? Would any of the other LED light systems on the market work as well? I was looking at an SGL6 system buts it's only 25w (and a lot more expensive). I'm growing mostly phalaenopsis and winter some higher light plants under lights. I turned on 2 leftover T5s until I can get a replacement but I'm at a loss as to what direction to go...

Take a look at lightyourreptiles.com. You won't find a direct replacement, but they halve some good lamps.

Are you having spikes in your electrical system? That would be bad for everything electrical.

I have all my lights plugged into power strips with surge protection (along with the microwave as it would be vulnerable during electrical storms).

Generally, an electronic circuit fails due to overheating or manufacturing failure, but if you have problems with multiple appliances in your home, you may have a ground problem. I mean, the ground wire has a weak contact to the transformer in the position where it is common with the neutral line (a floating neutral line).

As for any kind of electrical problem, I don't think so. I use a power strip with surge protection and have a humidifier, fan, heat mats and second light all plugged into it. They are all fine. If anything, I would blame the humid environment and possibly user error for the two damaged lights. Maybe mostly user error... The T5s were cheap and honestly I wasn't surprised that the ballast blew. I should have known better and bought a better unit in the first place. As for the LED, I suspect water or condensation got into it. I'm going to try for a better sealed light this time around.
