I don't see using old publications as any type of issue, in my classes for Horticulture they frequently use information 10-15- even 60 plus years old. If the information is solid, and you learn something from it... where is the problem? That's similar to saying the Library is useless because now all of the information can be found online. I read Ed Rosenthal's book many years ago and only last year picked it up again to reference it when we purchased the lamp for it's original purpose hydroponic vegetable and herb growing.
Now as far as my lighting goes, yes, the idea of switching over to an LED lighting system would be great for peace of mind and cost, but I do not regret using my HPS lamp. I am seeing an incredible burst of growth happening with all plants.
My goal is to not require lighting at all, I want the free energy Mother Earth supplies us. But as I have expressed multiples times throughout my thread this is a temporary setup AND I have no choice but to use this lamp for the time being. I don't understand the need for an aggressive or derogatory message. I thought this was a place for discussion and learning🤔

I think I was misunderstood, LED was developed in 1962.

And there has been incredible progress over the years, and explosive advances recently. I guess I don't understand what you mean, it reads as if you are putting down the older research, my thoughts of switching and mentioning the older publication.
Social expression is very lacking in written word, that's why I commented on it, to try to better understand your meaning.

What I want to say that the most important for a source of light is absorption and action spectrum. If using LED technology of the year 2016-2017, for a square foot you need (5-25)W, depending on the plants.

Oh ok, yes you're right for sure, thank you, if I could switch I probably would. But it's not in the cards right now.
