Default dull days

Hey
We have had a few particularly dull days recently 😕 should i put some light to the orchids? All i have is a 2700k desk lamp and i have my old fish tank led but its only 12x 47 lumen leds but says stimulates plant growth so not sure

Thanks

What are you growing. I never grow under lights whatever the weather, but some may need it more than others.

Some full spectrum 5600K fluorescents would certainly brighten up the dull days for your plants and you too!

I grow oth Phals and Oncidiums without light and we get long stretches of dull weather here in the UK. Lights would help as Dave says, it all depends how much you want to go down that route. They can grow fine without even with dull weather but may do better with if you want to do that.

Dull days just makes me want to buy flowers to brighten up the room!

..and I supplement with a couple of Ray's LED's. Just for when light outside is being a bummer.

Most phals and oncidium are lower light growers. I would not add it. I do add some lights (I have a North window) to my vandas and catts but not my phals or oncidium.

I was looking at t8 bulbs there and saw an aquarium plant bulb which is 18000k
Would that burn plants and would that be far too bright to have under a shelf in a bedroom

Average crop plant absorptance spectral range is between 400nm and 700nm, I recommend that you consult before buying lamps Product Manuals & Documentation.
An example you can see below site.
http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&...98197061,d.aWw
Or look at Product Manuals & Documentation in this site.
AquaticLife 48 Inch 54W Roseate T5HO Fluorescent Bulb
etc.

And to not wasting your time, look at spectral distribution graphics.

---------- Post added at 07:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:24 AM ----------

I 've given you just two examples but any respectable company must submit this information.
