Where Should I Get My Lighting? Female
Default Where Should I Get My Lighting?

My project for next weekend, is to build one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Indoor-Light-3...=indoor+garden

I have the shelving already. I have the location picked out. I think mine will have two tiers, as some of my orchids are fairly tall.

The problem is, where to come up with the lights.

I went to the local hardware stores and they carry t12 and t8 fixtures and the last time I walked into the local hydroponics shop, the guy at the counter was... well... "spaced out" if you catch my meaning. He was too busy trying to relight the incense (he'd just put on a fresh stick of Gonesh #8) and finding his favorite Grateful Dead song to play on the overhead. He was no help. It was a fun experience, but he had no idea what I was talking about. LOL!

I was wanting to do this with T5 HO, because I'm growing oncidium and want to grow dendrobiums and cattleyas, but would also like to use this rig for supplemental lighting for my phals during the winter months. I was thinking I could put the phals off to the side of the rack and behind the taller plants where they will get dappled light from it.

Any suggestions for some place I could order what I need online?

Thanks!

1) Take a look at Hydrofarm.com

2) Send me an email or PM with the part number of what you want, and I'll quote a discounted price, at least 10% below their suggested retail. Hydrofarm ships from the closest warehouse to you to minimize shipping cost.

I have seven lights total. Some are Hydrofarm, and I love them. However, I also wanted some things that Hydrofarm just didn't make. So I got those from Amazon/1000bulbs.
