I grow exclusively under artificial light, a combination of MH, LEDs and T5 HOs. I've been running the lights at 14 hours per day for the last 9 months. My catttleya alliance and dendrobiums are getting about 750fc, and the phal types around 450. I have gotten good results so far: B Nodosa Little Stars has bloomed for me before and is currently in spike again, along with an Iwanagaara Apple Blossom and Neostylis Lou Sneary Bluebird, both spiking. A noid phal started spiking over three months ago and is finally blooming beautiful flowers. A noid dendrobium might also be spiking too, not sure yet on that one. So I think the plants are getting enough light to initiate bloom with 14 hours per day.
