So I have the FLP44, slightly different. I have three of them at different heights. You can get these ropes to adjust distance if you want:
Amazon.com : Hydrofarm 1/8" Compact Rope Ratchet (2-Pack) : Patio, Lawn & Garden
I got some but I only use them on one light and the others are 'fixed' now.
My experience is that things need to be farther away from the lights, and perhaps even less light, than I read others suggested. I think some of the ratings and opinions are based on older-type bulbs that just aren't as strong, or something. At least a foot, and sometimes two, in some cases is what seems to be working for me. I'm considering adding a 4th light and it will be even farther away, to be supplemental light. I also removed the two outside bulbs on a closer fixture because it was overkill. I burned a plant using the 6" suggestion.
Having said that, I grow paph's, phrag's, and masdevallia's mostly. I have a Max coconut, and they love a massive amount of light, but it's the exception in my growing. I have six or seven Psychopsis but they aren't usually under the lights.
I've found as long as I'm not burning a plant, I can give it some time and see how it responds, and adjust accordingly. I look at the plants every day and if it's getting too much, I move it towards the outside of where the light is cast, or vice-versa. I also know what my plants in general want... i.e. the little seedlings less, and the Max or my Paph druryi (which get as much as possible) so I place them where this will be the case. I can't speak specific to your plants - I would just suggest in your planning that you give yourself options, where possible.
Hope this helps!
