I think there's an aspect of this conversation that has been missing:
The best light source for growing all plants is the sun. All we are doing is trying to find an acceptable, artificial substitute. It's the definition of "acceptable" that appears to be the sticking point.
The fact is that orchids can be grown under pretty much any light source; you just need to chooose one that's right for you.
Yes, in the end, we need to know whether a particular light source was successful in growing or blooming any particular type of orchid. I think some of us just have to do the experimenting and report on it. There is a lot we don't know about growing different types of orchids.
