LED Results ??

Hello everyone,

I'm sure I'm not the only one wanting to switch to LED lights. I've been thinking about it and researching for about a year now and I'm almost ready. I've heard enough success stories to make me want them and the energy savings and reduced heat emissions are definitely something I look forward too.

If there is already a thread like this someone please link the thread otherwise; I am hoping some fellow members who have switched to LED lights and have been using them for a while, can be kind enough to post some pictures of how the setups are doing. If there are before and after pictures it would be great.

I do not wish for this thread to be a debate on Pro & Cons or anything like that. I just want those with success or failure using LEDs to post some pictures if possible I myself have a plated aquarium for shrimp that I use LED lights on but it has only been running for a couple of months now and I only used LEDs on it so nothing to compare. There is lots of moss and all the plants seem to be doing as well as anything I can remember. I will post pics tomorrow cause it's already lights out now.

All orchids grow very fast, my Catt. intermerdia, is growing very fast.

As a general rule, the leaves that grow a little smaller than natural light, I guess the LED light gives them everything they need and not spend so much energy with large leaves. That extra energy they use to grow many roots and many leaves.

The LED light is powerful, I have taken a while to find the perfect place away from light for each orchid, some need to be in the shadow of others to grow well. I guess with any artificial light to pass the same. Each orchid has its needs and must be respected.

I recently acquired carnivorous plants, and its growth is still spectacular LED light, these are in full light, which shows me that any plant benefits from the LED light.

My experience is positive.

BINGO !!! Thank you so much Salamandra this is exactly the type of info I was looking for. Very encouraging to know your experience is this positive.

Now to get a bit greedy Can you tell me the finer details like what type of bulbs, distance from plants, and maybe a shot from a bit further to capture the "looK" of the lights and how you have your plants positioned . The lights appear a bit on the blue side but I'm guessing that is due to the type of bulbs and the spectrum they provide.?

Wouldn't mind seeing your Carnivorous plants too

Thank you both for this useful information . I think my main concern now is the red or blue hues. I think plants are created perfect just the way they are and I really enjoy looking at them flowers or no flowers. To not have the green or to have it downplayed is rubbing me the wrong way. I know I can add specific bulbs to get a more full spectrum but does that have any negative effects ?? Will I have to replace a lot of bulbs to get the full spectrum and will switching other bulbs decrease the efficiency of the fixture as a whole ?

Here I leave a picture of the color settings of my focus led.



My focus led, not the typical lights with red and blue, is a special spectrum to see the green color of plants.
Something is going very well if you have a device of these conditions in the living room, you can sit and look at orchids harmless to your eyes with colored lights

I hate to throw a wet blanket on this, but what I see is demonstration of the fact that the plants can be grown under LEDs, not that they have benefited specifically due to the lights being LEDs.

I'm sorry guys, but I have to agree with. Ray although I'd love for the LEDs to be great as well. To properly test their benefits, you would need those under LEDs compared to those grown under standard lights kept in identical conditions to see what the true benefis are, if any.
