I got my 3' t5 fixtures from home depot as well. What I have is not HO, so I'm not sure what you have but I wouldn't imagine they sell HO fixtures at HD. Anyhow, I got my 6500k bulbs very cheap from buylighting.com. Word of warning, don't put HO bulbs in a NO (normal output) fixture. I'm no electrician, but I can tell you that the first bulbs I got from an aquarium supply website were HO, and they died after 8 months or so. Good luck to you!

I'll pull 1apart and check. I'm pretty sure they can but to be on the safe side before I waste 80 bucks on bulbs

ya i misread the ballast it said f28.... i thought it was f39 for the ho bulbs... will the f21's be sufficient... the bulbs are about 6-8 inches over the plants,

so i am going to put up a build thread... just for the heck of it... plus i love to watch diy threads so i will add to my own enjoyment by doing so....lol but here is a pic of what i ended up with..
