Confused blooms
Hi, I did a search and I can not find an answer to my problem. I have two Phalaenopsis Orchids growing under two 15 (75 watt) watt fluorescent grow lights and a little 10 (40 watt) watter on the shelf bottom. They are in an old curio cabinet. Good humidity, leaves are a nice dark green. They are planted semi hydroponic. I have had the one for almost 2 years now, and the other for about a year. I have changed nothing in the cabinet. Lights on for 14 hours a day. They are both blooming finally. The one Orchid only put out 3 buds. (it was a surprise as it was a rescue orchid) It has bloomed for about a month and a half. The flowers have suddenly started dying starting with the newest ones. I am pretty sure that is not normal. The other orchid has just opened it's first bloom. However, It's not opening it's blooms in order. The first one is at the base of the stem, now the second one is opening, but technically in the 3rd spot...( I don't know how else to explain it.) So, it skipped one that looks like it might open later this week.
Long story short, why are my orchids not blooming right? Is it a light issue? So they need a different light to maintain flowers? Or is it maybe the time of lights on? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Karin
