LED grow lights
Default LED grow lights

LED grow lights are somewhat of a hot topic nowadays in the indoor growing world, especially for "medicinal" plants. There is a great deal of hyperbole out there about these lamps as well.

I have a 4x4x8 grow room with one 400W HID lamp at the present time. The temperature inside varies between 55 and 80 degrees night to day, so I don't wish to add another HID lamp to increase the daytime temperature.

I have therefore been intrigued with the LED lamps (90-180W) to supplement the light in the grow room without adding any more heat.

I'd love to get a discussion going about the merits, strengths, weaknesses etc. of LED lighting for orchid growing. Anyone experienced in this aspect of artificial lighting?

I will probably buy one 90W lamp soon and try it out so I'll be able to contribute my experience.

Default ALL LED Grow Lights

I purchased my LED grow lights from ALL LED. There products come with a 90 day money back guarantee, along with a 3 year limited warranty and they are in US. It was definitely the best investment I've ever made! Works great

I was really excited about these and asked around various forums. The conclusion I came to was that they are too expensive for what they do. I have decided to use T5 lamps, though they release heat, they are not the kind of heat to would burn you if you were to touch the light tubes themselves. They are warm to the touch. With T5's you have much more flexibility with the types of lights you can use (color temp, range). And the bulbs are easy and cheap to change.

Here is what I got:
