High Output
Thought I'd post this here for information. I have a growing area (a wardian case/orchidarium) with a four foot wide, 30 inch deep and three foot high growing area. I had previously used shoplights (8 bulbs and a mix of wide spectrum and cool white), but switched to high output fixtures and bulbs, eight bulbs (4 foot). Found that to be too much light for the collection of miniatures I was growing - some of them were even "sunburned." I've now switched off one bank of lights and am only using four of the bulbs. In that small a space am even blooming B.nodosa (the mini variety).

Is it a T5 HO fixture that you are using now?

Thanks for posting this. I have to set up lights this year and have been looking at T5s. This is great to know.

are the T5 lamps you are using the 830 6500k full spectrum or are you using a combination of red and blue spectrum lights still?

Hey Ron, I just posted a question about this in another thread. Which T5 exactly are you using and how many lights of what spectrum?
Thanks,
Katie

They are the 6500 full spectrum. Sorry for missing this post - we were gone on vacation at the time and I never saw your questions.
