I finally found the perfect setup to grow my small collection under lights! At Lowe's they have the "Garden Treasures Greenhouse" for $40.00. It's a 4-shelf system that comes with a plastic cover. Granted it's a bit rickety, but you can add or remove shelves and it's perfect for a college student's budget

The fixtures are 2' T5s (couldn't find any 3' that weren't astronomically priced special setups) which I wired myself and have a very bright output. You can see my 4 new plants underneath! I only set up 3 of the 4 shelves, so all of the orchids are on top, my rex begonias, african violet and oxalis are in the middle and get some light from above along with some light from the window, and my 2 terrariums w/maidenhair fern and macodes are on the bottom.

The unit is roughly 3' from the floor to the topmost rack, and about 4' from the floor to the top bar where the lights are hanging from. There is another shelf I could add on, too.

I was planning to buy this same greenhouse and was wondering if you think that the thermal covering will work for temperatures in zone 7a. Thank you!
