When it's good and warm, try rooting cuttings of your peppers. Take semihard- or hardwood. Use rooting hormone and sterile rooting medium, or sharp sand.

This works with tomatoes, too. They can also be ground layered. Bend over a shoot and cover the stem with soil.

Like DeaC, I too have watered vandas this way (in the shower). Maybe I should just "forget" to move them back to the sunroom afterwards. I'll first start with one vanda hanging from the shower curtain. If it goes unnoticed or unremarked upon for a few days--this bathroom is on the other side of the house and rarely gets visits from my partner, who's always hyper-alert to what he calls an "excessive increase in your orchid collection" (I have caught him counting the plants in the sunroom in the past)--then it might be safe to move a couple more plants in there. And from there, some grow lights, a humidifier, a fan, etc. I think I can make an argument for squatters rights if the plants don't get threatened with eviction after a certain period of time has gone by.

Seriously, that's an ingenious set-up, and one that I'm now envious of.

Err, if I hadn't been laying in bed trying to figure out how to get more eastern window exposure (or it's equivalent), I might call smweaver's approach 'orchid manifest destiny' or 'the bathroom or bust'.
Pardon me, do you know the local help line # for Orchids Anonymous?
