Horticultural Lighting Group is a brand common in the cannabis growing industry, and fairly popular at hydro shops. They produce a variety of led bars and boards.

You're correct, that's Bc. Maikai (B. nodosa x C. bowringiana) It's easy to grow, but the flowers don't always clear the leaves and present well.

Found and bought one of these for me new orchid cage Being dimmable I should have no problems getting the light that my plants want.
I really like these ACINFINITY lights and the price is right. I needed some axial DIY fans so Its how we got to the lights.

IONBOARD S22, Full Spectrum LED Grow Light 100W, Samsung LM301B, 2x2 Ft. Coverage - AC Infinity

The cannabis culture promoting orchid growing. It has helped the home orchid engineer tremendously as a side effect. They show em all growing tomaters though

Nice! That would seem to be a better light than the hlg board as it’s cheaper and dimmable. The chips are identical according to Samsung.

also note the light has been "Constructed on a uni-body aluminum board and IP-65 rated for grow environments with higher humidity and heat."

not plastic!!!

So if the whole point was to save money, I understand your frustration. If you can take that off the table, for now, you could start realizing and enjoying working with the increased flexibility you would have in designing an LED growing space for orchids. In flexibility, LEDs beat HID hands down.
In other words, you're beating your head against a wall. Stop doing that. Give yourself the freedom and enjoyment of designing your space the way you want it. Then you can truly assess the cost/benefit factor.
LEDs are available in so many forms, colors and strengths, that they offer amazing flexibility. Think beyond the bars. For example, you could use everyday spots for overhead, and bars for under shelves or vertically. You don't have to buy everything from this guy (although it doesn't necessarily sound like he's trying to bilk you).
I hope this helps.
