It's Alive!!
Default It's Alive!!

Since moving into the basement a year ago I have been able to maintain an average 80% humidity and I have noticed a boom in moss, fungi, and ferns. I even have a few pots where the sphagnum moss is coming back to life. Spending more time pruning moss these days but I like the look and believe it has a symbiotic relationship with the orchids.

Last one is a hoya that grows in the basement. Although this one has stayed very small, other hoyas have vined all over the basement along with vanilla planifolia

Wow Clawhammer! That's some ridiculously crazy moss you have going on there! Moss and lichens and toadstools, Oh My!

Speaking of hoya... I have one in my sunroom that's pretty much taken over...crawling over and around windows, up walls, and venturing onto the ceiling. It almost makes me want to sleep with a nightlight.

Thanks WW!

Has your hoya bloomed? That one is in spike/bloom and it smells amazing! (honey and hyacinth to my nose)
