I'm thinking of getting Barrina or Monios LED lights for my orchids so I'm wondering if anyone here uses them. Please share your opinions if you do. Thank you!
This is an old thread but I thought I would give my input. I got some Barrina grow lights in September. They were on sale. I figured they have to be much better than my octopus lights. So far they seem to be okay. Some of my orchids have some reddish hue to them now. I sometimes wonder if they might be too bright for my seedlings but so far they’re doing fine. I have them plugged into a smart plug which turns them on automatically.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Which ones exactly did you get?
I'm using two of the 2' ones to supplement my old fluorescent fixture but haven't tried them on their own yet.
I got 8 of the 2’ yellow ones and 4 of the 2’ bright white ones that look more pinkish. My current shelves are about 20” high and I use 2-3 per shelve because they are pretty small ones. So far I mixed the yellow and pink ones. I think they do plenty for my orchids. Most of them have the reddish hue on them from the lights. I’m not sure if the pink ones are the cause.
2-3 per shelf isn't too bad at all! I haven't tried them alone but I wouldn't have thought they'd be bright enough. Maybe I'll try them without my fluorescents at some point.
I’ve got two trays of seedlings about 3” tall and they are the farthest away from the lights. 20” is more of an eyeball estimate since I’m not there. I’ll have to take a picture when I can. My taller plants that are close to mature are pretty much touching the lights and they don’t have problems with it. I figure in nature, the smaller seedlings hide under the taller plants anyway so it’s natural.
Late but here it is. That’s my current setup with the Barrina lights. Sometimes I do wonder if they’re too bright. I want to change the distance of the lights and the plants a little bit but overall they’re growing.
Edit: Not sure how the pictures turned sideways but hope you get the idea.
