Home made LED unit for growing Orchids

I just finished reading various subjects on First Ray's web site. One was about making a cheep lighting system out of
Cree Soft White, 90+ CRI, “100 watt equivalent bulbs. Has any tried raising orchids with this system, and how did it work.

It works fine, but I have evolved to floodlights, rather than ordinary bulbs, only because the light is more directed to the plants.

thanks for the input. I am in the process of setting up a terrarium. I thought the bulbs would give me the option to increase or decrease the amount of CF . I will be growing miniatures requiring between 1500 - 1000 CF.
