What Orchids NOT to mount?
Default What Orchids NOT to mount?

Hello!

I have been searching around for a list of orchids that are not for mounting. I haven't been able to find a definite list on which ones just can't be mounted, and I think it would help a lot of people know the limits of their orchids

There's probably no such list. Even many epiphytes do better in containers than mounted if humidity, watering and air circulation are not good. And many "terrestrials" grow on or in layers of dead leaves, effectively epiphytes.

People in high-rainfall areas grow lots of things on mounts that other people grow in containers.

It's not a truly valid question. it's about the conditions provided, not the plants.

"Living walls" usually consist of "mounted terrestrials", but the environment is modified to allow them to grow well.

ANY request for information about the "best/easiest/worst/hardest" ANYTHING in orchid culture is a bad question. What is good for you, might be bad for me (or vice versa), because our growing conditions and cultural techniques differ.
