how to mount, and care
I will be attempting my first formal mounting tomorrow.
I have recieved some free orchids which I would like to mount.
The are,
Microcoelia sp.
Dockrillia linguiforme
Dendrobium loddigesii(one small keiki)
Would I be able to mount them with a bit of spag at the bottom of the plant so not a lot of water is lost? Or ad a but of mos around them for the first month or so till they are bigger?
And please help me on care not to kill the Microcoelia!

The Microcoelia famiy is leafless and the roots need to be exposed to medium light for the plant to grow. Mine, and I forget which one it is, is mounted on a piece of grapevine with fishing line holding it on the mount. I put a small amount of Spanish moss to help hold the moisture around it. I still have to water it twice a day.
Your Dockrillia can be grown mounted or in a pot but it needs to dry out between watering and needs a lot of sun.
The Den can also be grown either way but gets an almost dry cool-er winter to flourish. I couldn't get mine to bloom profusely although it made tons of growths and covered a tree fern mount. My g/h never went below 60.
Congrats on your new 'chids.
