Olive wood - good for mounting orchids?
I had an old Olive tree (about 10 ft tall) which have died this winter due to Olive's Tuberculosis (a bacterial disease that seems to be specific of Olive trees, and for which I have not yet been able to find any reference of affecting orchids) This big tree had of course a quite nice trunk and ramifications that could make a good support for some orchids (was thinking of my Tolumnias, which seems to be grown better mounted, a Laelia anceps 'Guerrero', and probably a Phal NOID). However, I am not very sure whether this wood would be good for orchids. I can only remember from my orchids in Venezuela, they did not like orange/lemon wood nor Vera wood (a wild tree from Venezuela with extremelly hard wood).
Has any of you has experience with olive wood and orchids?
