I'm new to orchids (only a year into it and only killed one that was on it's way out when I found it, poor leafless thing) and was hoping to try mounting early on. I'm not sure of my humidity as I live in a dorm room (I'm pretty sure it's dry though). If they are still recouperating from there saturated sphag experience, could they adapt to growing on bark rather than in it?

Nice to meet another Mississippian. I'm pretty much a noob, too - I suspect most of my orchids are NOIDS, too, with a couple of exceptions.
I too am interested in learning about mounting. I went picking around in the woods this past weekend and came home with what I hope will be good bits of wood - oak, with lichen on board, an interesting piece of hawthorn and a bit of sparkleberry limb. I'd love to find a piece of oak within my reach that already has the resurrection fern growing on it - I'm guessing that would look nice and be a suitable companion. In fact, I know it would look nice, having seen a very fine one done that way in the Mounting, pt 1 post.
Sorry, wasn't trying to hog your post, but I'm interested in the replies to yours as well, since you hit stuff I want to know.
