I have acquired quite a lot of individually mounted orchids, and wanted to compile them onto a couple of branches. Any thoughts/recommendations on best wood types for look/functionality/longevity. I have quite a variety of tree species to choose from living here in the Pacific Northwest, but want the best bang for my harvesting troubles :-)
I'm not exactly sure what you have available over there but I go for hardwood timber so it lasts longer and I always use a larger branch than I think I'll need because then they don't need to be remounted to soon/ever depending on the species.
I cannot make a recommendation as to the particular wood, but keep in mind that a bunch of different plants on a single mount might (and I do mean "might") present issues, sucvh as having different cultural requirements, if one gets a disease, they all share it, etc.
