Mounting phal using palm tree fiber

Hi
I mounted my first orchid, a phal, to a piece of bark found on the riverbank (therefore not sure what tree it came from!)
I can't find sphag moss here where I live, so I used some finer from palm trees...is that ok? I hope I did a good job and not just doomed my plant!
I mounted it yesterday and used something similar to fish line to keep it on it.
