Default fertilizer for mounts

I could use some help. I grow on either cork or tree fern mounts. I have gotten some slow release pellets to fertilize with. I have seen some people make packets to hang over their roots for delivery. Is there an alternative way? If you make packets what method and materials do you use?

Some growers here, in South Florida, use bags made of panty hose or folded pool screen. Some orchid supply stores carry little bags also. I think Broward Orchid Supply has some, or at least they did at one time. Growers usually fasten them to the mount, above the orchid. One grower I know lodges a small bag with time release fertilizer behind the highest pseudobulb. I don't use time release on my mounted orchids but I may give it a try.

Thanks for the tips. I have seen the pool screen ones but I can't figure out how to make them. I will check out Broward Supply!

Give Broward Orchid Supply a call. They don't have the bags on their web-site but I've seen them at their booth at orchid shows.

Stores that carry aquarium supplies will often have little draw-string nylon bags available.
