Masdevallia regina on mount
Hi all,
I've got this one growing on a mount inside my orchdarium, see my post on my orchidarium in terrarium subforum.
It's been in here for four or five months now. It was in decline in its pot outside the tank. I've had this plant since 2007 or so, and never grew it in a tank before. Finally I decided to mount it and stick in my orchidarium or risk loosing it forever. Has anyone seen the prices of M. reginas??? Way too high for me! I'll fight tooth and claw before I let this one die. Plus its never flowered for me before.
The tank is positioned so that its close to a window and this plant along with a few others in the tank recieves reflected sunlight in the morning and direct afternoon sun too. It's produced 4 leaves since mounting it, yea it was down to 1 leaf when I mounted it.
And it has also produced a number of roots attaching itself to the wood mount.
Growing with it is some hairy cap moss (far end of the stick) and some finer tropical moss as well as the liverwort Frulania and an ity bity lichen. Must have come with the hairy cap moss.

Nice save!
Pressure's on for flower pics now Tin.
How's the Frullania working for you? I've tried some myself, but its way too sensitive to drying out.
Cheers.
Jim

I've got good growth on the Frulania in multiple places. Only propblem is the moss I have in there can over grow it. I've let the tank dry out before, never been a problem. This species normally grows on tree bark were it gets pretty dry. Wonder why yours is sensitive to water loss.
