mounting p. besseae on a fountain

Just wondering if anyone has tried this with the more water-loving phrag species, especially besseae. It on rocks that are constantly exposed to stream water, so I figured it would be a cool way to get the roots some circulating water, humidity for the plant, and hopefully look rather cool. any thoughts or reasons why this wouldn't be successful?

Too much water could make it unsuccessful. Do you have any pics of your plans? Sounds like it could be very cool or very disastrous!!

some orchids are grown evenly moist but not wet.....it should have time to dry at some point or else root rot will occur....I have tried it on an electric flowing decorative statue fountain made of lava rock....the orchid almost died....only the moss survived with constant water flow

A friend of mine made a small water wall and put a Phrag. besseae on it. It loves it and was growing well, last I heard. I am waiting to make myself a very small one and try a few plants on it. I have a piece of a larger Phrag. Hanne Popow which is half besseae and I plan to try that for starters. Just have to get the wall built!

How long has it been growing there? Any pics?

sounds interesting. I noticed that my little self circulating fountain in my greenhouse, creates a zone around it of water splatter. I would if that is enough or useful. Good luck!

I think it also highlights how these plants are growing with a lot of water, but their roots are VERY exposed and are not growing with anything on top of them (ie. dirt, moss, other plants, etc.). It really highlights how these plants are growing in a specialized microenvironment and how replicating such a locale is possible, but very tricky. I am very curious to see how you guys do it! Please post lots of pics if you do (sorry to about the pics!).
