I imagine if you keep it damp enough it will be happy there

I've heard of others doing the same with other types of orchids, with more or less success. I think that if you can keep it from drying out too fast then it may work, since Bulbos like moisture.

I don't grow bulbophyllums but I do know a grower here in Florida that turns her clay pots up-side-down and mounts orchids on the bottom of the pot. I recently saw two forum threads about mounting on clay pots. One had orchids mounting on the outside of a clay jug and the other was a grower who mounts orchids on the clay saucers that go under clay pots. He had some beautiful orchids mounted on those clay saucers.

If you could, please post some pictures. We'd love to see what you have done! I grow a few bulbo's, but still have yet to see them bloom so I wouldn't be the one to ask. But I am curious.

I had no time to fix a dendrobium properly in a clay pot.So I just fix it on a raw coconut husk piece and put it in a pot which is already having plants living in it.Or living the other bulbs in it. Now the new orchid is well attached to the edge of the pot and grows happily .The roots system fairly well established on the outer layer of clay pot and bloomed twice . Another factor is no coconut husk or moss fixed to the root system. wonderful growing.
