Default Urgent: Can I use mimosa tree stems?

Hi guys. Right now, I have absolutely nothing to pot and nothing to pot my 2 bare rooted dendrobiums in. But I do have something called the mimosa tree (You can google it if you don't know about it) and would like to ask if it has long lasting wood so I could mount on it. The stem I'm hoping to use is about 3" diameter and is perfectly round.

I'm not familiar with Mimosa wood, but I know some related species (Acacia, Black Locust, Honeylocust) make excellent durable mounts.

I believe the Mimosa is classified as a hardwood so should make a pretty good mount.
