Nicely done! It is such a good feeling to see an orchid getting established on a mount. As far as blooming, it may need a bit more light, since the leaves are a little on the dark side. Maybe not though, sometimes they just need time. Anyway, beautiful mount, and good luck!

Actually, this is a spring bloomer, as I understand it. So maybe up the light and hopefully you will see some blooms this coming spring.

Must admit I'm looking into lighting solutions, I have a daylight bulb which I mostly use for drawing but I am putting a few of the light loving plants under it's glow, as winter daylight is minimal where I am, and it seems to be benificial. So I will try this mount with that light and see how it goes, for now.

Heard from another grower that they have started using a Daylight Bulb which was specifically designed for parrots, which they seem to be having success with so I may look into getting something similar (budget permitting).

As for Mounting I believe the best Orchids to start with may indeed be those of the Cattleya genus. Prefering drier conditions this one seemed to respond well to mounting. And although I try to mist it daily, on those few days when I have missed the misting it has not sulked. I tend to soak it when it's due a feed. It certainly seems more forgiving then the mounted Phal.

May have a good Bud-Sheath developing on the new growth, but then again it may come to nothing - Though I will be sure to post pictures should it gift me with a bloom

I have a Dendrobium lindleyi (a.k.a. aggregatum var. majus) that I am debating whether I should mount it, pot, or basket culture. The thing that makes me nervous about mounting is I had a cattleya mounted on cork once and it dried out extremely fast because I have 50%-60% RH and good air movement and it eventually died.

It may be an idea to keep your Den potted to begin with, then when it gets big enough to divide or it gives you a Keiki you will have a secondary plant to mount thus if mounting proves unsuccessful you will have a back up plant - Just a thought

RH is important, but there are few methods to get round a drier atmosphere. From the relatively cheap Humidity tray, to the small decorative house fountain set near by, up to the automated misting systems. I luckily live near the coast, so on average the humidity is quite reasonable with the coastal atmosphere, so I seem to be all right with the daily hand mist and humidty tray affair.

You could also start a new thread in this section of the Forum. This may get the attention of more experienced growers, especially when it comes to Dendrobiums.
Using perhaps the Thread Title:
"Advice required for Mounting a Dendrobium lindleyi?"
or something to that affect.

I still struggle with Dens, I can get them to grow and produce keikis but not flower (yet). I'm hoping to have better luck next year, thanks to a bit of research and a few tips from some local society members. It is always a good idea to try and get advice from any successful local growers if you can, as the conditions they grow in will be very similar to your own.

If you do go on to mount your beauty, I would love to know how it goes and wish you the very best success.
