Hello!
Since about this past September,i have began mounting and growing orchids and other epiphytes the natural, epiphytic way,on my Olea europea tree. I first mounted my Stanhopea tigrina and 2 Zamia pseudoparasitica and as most did well, with the Stanhopea tigrina doing excellently in particular,i mounted 2 Prosthechea cochleata the past weekend on my Olea europea as well!!!
One actually came blooming and they are quite a site on the tree! Here are some photos!

As you can see,i have dressed most of the trunk with dead moss to give the roots some room to grow well and this necessitates lines to hold them in place. I plan to eventually replace all the dead moss with live, epiphytic moss so that i can remove the rubber ropes at some point but so far i have been unable to collect any due to lack of time. I hope to collect some during my Christmas vacations and attach it on the trunk to establish and propagate itself hopefully. If anyone has any tips on establishing epiphytic moss on wood or even better,on a tree trunk,i would be glad to learn them!
I water my epiphytes with 3 micro-sprinklers from the wall behind my Olea europea. I added the third one the past weekend to have better coverage of the trunk and to assure adequate watering even on windy days. Here is the setup i use!
I hope they do well and pass the winter ok!
