Mounting on clay pots

Here they are. The thing is a tiny little 2 p'bulb division, but it had a good amount of roots, and I am hoping it starts a new growth.

It doesn't work with just any clay material, it needs to be one which is very porous so that enough water can seep through it to the plant.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I thought SwampStick went out of business, does anyone know if it is back up and running? I bought a few but they weren't for my growing environment at the time, but I really like how they look!

I started a thread in the SH section. But to continue this thread, this is what I've come up with so far. I mounted a recovering NOID Phal as an experiment.

There is some seepage through the porous clay- thus the saucer. The flow is slowing over time. Here is the latest - I added a couple more NOID phals that I got at discount after their blooming.

What a creative idea! Thanks for pics and I was just thinking to add some opinion to this pot concept. Orchids just love pots because clays is porous and remains moisture for a longer period of time .Even cemented pots can retain moist.

bumpman - are the roots attaching to the clay pot yet ?
I was wondering approx how long it takes. The concept of using a jug is cool as you can move it around safely and its harder to break through knocking over etc......not to mention so much easier to water. I have also seen clay pot saucers used, easy to water ( just invert ) but harder to place..

I tried to order from Swamp Sticks about 2 years ago and they had already gone out of business. Great idea though. Maybe somebody will resume making them.

I have an Aerangis growing on a ceramic slab. It attached and grew really well on it until I had to pack it away for the trip north. I haven't quite found a good place for it since the move so it's kinda stalled. I will post a photo when I get chance.

Also I spoke to a lady, who had a brother in California that grew nearly his whole collection on upside down or broken terra cotta pots.
