Tree mounting Dendrobium antennatum outside in zone 10a?
Hello!
I would like to mount a Dendrobium antennatum outside in zone 10a and would like to ask you if thats feasible in my zone and if it can withstand temperatures down to 0C or -1C.
I live in zone 10b and I love mounted orchids, I tried once mounting one on my oak tree but it didn't work, so what I do now is I mount them on a piece of wood like oak, or cork, also i have used coconut halves and they seem to like it, in that way, if t gets cold (that is not every year here in FL) I can bring them inside, maybe you wanna try that method
Walter Upton (1989) Dendrobium Orchids of Australia suggests a minimum temp of 15C for Dendrobium antennatum. But he also says they do much better mounted than potted.
