Smile My First Mount

Hi guys! I built my first mount! I had a wobbly orchid basket and instead of trashing it, I took a hammer to it and created this: (yes, those are little heart beads separating the wood)
This is my first mount ever, so please let me know if everything looks OK. I used panty hose to secure the phal.

BTW, I didn't put any moss around the roots. Is that going to be a problem? This phal had an issue with root rot when I first got her. She seems to have recovered, but I don't know...I don't like using sphagnum moss.

Well, I'm definitely not an expert and have no experience with mounting, but mounts require more water, yes? It is going to dry out much faster in the air like that, so maybe some moss would help retain some moisture. I saw wait a few days to see if the roots shrivel up significantly, though I think a few older ones may die off anyway from the change.

The lack of moss wont be a problem as long as you spray it often enough. I like to keep all of my mounts damp for the first hour or so in the morning and they are dry long before nightfall.
