Your right.... I have seen some large pieces @ SBOE. I only have one Onc. mounted on a piece of 10"x14" cork. To be honest, I don't really care for the look of cork.

I have some oak barrels that I cut in half and have had bulbs of all different kinds in them for 5+ years. Not saying that there not rotting from inside out. Truthfully, I don't know. Never dig them up. But there still in one piece.

I was thinking about those round polls that you use to stake trees with.... I thing there treated tho. May be they make redwood ones?

I found that Queen palm boots make the perfect mount. Here is a large skinneri division that was just mounted on a 2 foot boot.

That's cool!!!! I love that idea.

Only time I see those here in S.D. is when they smash into my front windshield in a rain storm, and scar the crap out of me!!!!!

I would love to get more ideas like this!

She got them at RF Orchids. They have lots of different sizes in very cool shapes and great for mounting a lot of different orchids. I've got some Schomburgkias, Oncidiums and Vandas mounted on the wood and they love it.

My neighbor had the yard guy on a ladder sawing and pulling the boots off the palm trees. I asked and he brought them over. I several large growing Catts on them.
