I just received two new mini orchids, Epidendrum porpax and Trichosalpinx chamaelepanthes, from a friend and finished mounting them on some cork bark. I am completely new to mounting orchids, so I'd love some feedback on how I did.
These are both in NZ Spaghnum Moss tied on with fishing line, and are hanging in a big east-facing window. Sorry for the bad pictures...
Thanks for all the support guys. Hopefully they'll do well for me!
Although, I did just realize that the Trichosalpinx has some Medinilla sedifolia mixed in. I missed the label included with the plant and thought they were the same plant (they look so darn similar ). I'll pick up another slab of cork bark tomorrow and get that one separated.
At least your photos are in full focus and the shallow depth of field keeps the background in soft focus while the plants remain centre of attention. A good mounting job also, you must have deft fingers.
I just got Trichosalpinx chamaelepanthes and was thinking they dont look similar. Amazing how one could make a hybrid with such tiny flowers! Very interested what the flowers look like in comparison.
