Default My New Driftwood Project

So..I decided after having my front driveway and walkway and doorway brick paved to find a cool piece of driftwood to accent the doorway. Found a nice piece but at $200+ I could not justify it. I stopped by a little nursery that I had bought a couple cacti for a problem spot. Anyway I was looking around and asked if they had any driftwood. The owner said they only had one old piece. It was standing against the wall of their building trunk up and roots down. Hmmm....I wanted to see it on it's side with roots up...How much was the next question. A phone call and she said $60 but would sell it for $30. It would not fit in my outback wagon and she didn't have a saw for where I needed it cut...$10 to deliver. I bought 2 other garden plants and a friend cut one of the roots back since it was just laying across the ground. It is now the piece sticking up giving me more mounting space and the long trunk piece is added weight and mounting room too. Turns out while my friend was cutting I had a wonderful smell of cedar. What a deal!! My husband thinks we have enough! Wait till he sees this done!!

Lorraine, that's a great piece! WOW!

There's a house a few blocks from me what has a huge piece like that just sitting up against a plain wall on the front of their house...and I keep telling hubby I want it!

Can't wait to see what you do with yours

Why don't you casually ask the homeowner if they'd like to re-home it??

Are you kidding? For months prior to them placing it where it is, it was just leaning up in a corner of their property. It's a good thing I'm a fine upstanding citizen...or that baby would've been at my house LONG ago!

What a great piece of driftwood! Be sure to show us when you've got some 'chids on it, I think it will look really good.

That's awesome! I wish I could come accross something like that. We've got tons of grape orchards around here... but those folks sell their grape stumps for a healthy chunk of change when the rip old vines out. I'm still waiting to fall on to a great opporunity though!

OK, I'll just say it. I hate you people who live in Florida!
No I don't I'm really just very gelous of you all. That will look really cool all covered in chids.

Susanne, just go down to that house and offer them a $20 bill to haul it away for them. It couldn't hurt to ask. You might be surprised.
