Do mounted Orchids need maintenance?
Need input please! I have 5 mounted Cats. that were housed in my Orchidarium. They have grown to a point that they are to big for where they are housed. I recently moved them into my new greenhouse and was wondering do I need to trim any of the roots. Some of the root systems are huge and some have brown roots.
To trim or not to trim THAT is the question....

To trim: perchance to kill: ay, there's the rub;
For in that cutting of the roots what harm may come
When we have shuffled off those browning coils,
Must give us pause:
And the answer is: don't cut them as long as they are alive - the more roots the stronger the plant and the better the blooming.

You are a funny guy Ron! To be neat or to be shuffling browning coils that are uncut......

OK now that those Catts have been in the GH since March some of them have shriveled but they are putting out new growth. They dry out so fast and I have been watering them a couple of times a week is that to much or not enough?

Sheridan I too agree with Ross that soaking or dipping is much better than spraying. I hope you keep us posted & I look forward to hearing how you get along. Good luck!
