Here we can grow vandas on the trunk of Mango trees. Normally those grow lengths and lengths .

You are correct no need anything for medium for vandas .
cement pot is a novelty thing here.
I have seen some people grow on cement concrete pols too. By providing fertilizer.

pieces. Those are the size of them what we combine into bowls.
And see the size of roots. Now you will believe me.
Those roots are nothing. They are actually quite small compared to other plants I have. The size of the roots has nothing at all to do with being in coconut, as i have Cattleyas in Bark/compost mix and they have grown far bigger. The use of coconut is for keeping moisture on the plants without them getting too wet and rotting.
