Usage of Coconut Husks

Here we can grow vandas on the trunk of Mango trees. Normally those grow lengths and lengths .
Only covering the root with husks .
I thought of Dendrobiums and phals and pigeon orchids. .
You are correct no need anything for medium for vandas .
cement pot is a novelty thing here.
I have seen some people grow on cement concrete pols too. By providing fertilizer.

Thanks for the pics.
pic one displays coconut husks divided into vertical
pieces. Those are the size of them what we combine into bowls.
And see the size of roots. Now you will believe me.

Those roots are nothing. They are actually quite small compared to other plants I have. The size of the roots has nothing at all to do with being in coconut, as i have Cattleyas in Bark/compost mix and they have grown far bigger. The use of coconut is for keeping moisture on the plants without them getting too wet and rotting.

While not an orchid - I have quite a few bromeliads in coconuts.
