Not bad!
But, if I were you, I will choose another brach which is thicker than this.
Drill a hole near the top of end vertically to hang your stick. And use 2 nails and a string on the both sides to attach your phal.
This approach is suit for the orchid prefer to " quickly wet quickly dry".
Later let me take a pic of mine to show you.

Looks pretty good, but as others have stated, the orchid is technically supposed to be 'upside down'.

As for wood, I usually use cork bark (it's pretty cheap from the pet store! haha). I also would use a less conspicuous string...I use fishing line, it's nearly invisible when wrapped around the plant's roots, the sphagnum and the mount
