Is the new invention an epiweb tube with a pump that runs water over the tube? because i think i came across that somewhere when i was doing some research on nano vivs. I'll see if i can find the link

And I am very impressed, because you dont need any viv around it.
It has its own humidity around itself so to say.

it looks really interesting and looks like it would eliminate the different levels of moisture that terracotta tubes produce.

Yes i think you are right there, but the different levels of moisture is something you can take advantage of, because different orchids want different moisture.
I´ts a treat to find out where the orchid thrieves at the best...

This Epiweb ide is realy great !!!

Here are my nanovivs:
1.I grow lepanthes telipogonifolia on it . ON the photos you can not see the lepanthes because it is on the other side of the vase.I wanted to show the moss.The nanoviv is started on 22 Sept 2008


2. The second is started in Oct. 2008.I used some natural moss for it. I grow a telipogon ariasii on it


3.I started the third one in Nov. 2008 I grow 6-7 aerangis on it


The last one - there are no orchids on it yet. I used some Kyoto moss spores on it.
