Default Coconut mounts

I visited Coconut Orchids in Davie, Florida Sunday and all her plants are grown in Coconuts! Look at this great 'Limelight' I got from her (6 buds)!

This is a common scene in Sri Lanka .We use coconut husks the other way .When we mount orchids on a tree we cover it with husks . All roots can penetrate the husks .I think bec we get plenty of rains the husk is always moistured .

Lorraine sent me one this spring, thanks Lorraine, which I planted a Dykia hendersonia in. It is doing great and is just starting to flower, only a few buds open yet. I'll post another picture when more buds open.

I like the idea of placing it flat because I find it difficult to water this way. Mounts don't like me. This morning mine will be changed to it's back. Marilyn

People use lots of coconuts for their orchids here. I even have some in them too.
They do make great mounts and Susie I'm so in love with the colors of your beautiful orchid!!!
