we just cut down a bald cypress in my backyard and i saved some of the wood for mounts. is it suitable for using as a mounting material?

I don't see why it wouldn't be. There are wild orchids growing on cypress here(in the everglades and fakahatchee) all the time. I can't help feel bad about the cutting down of that tree though. Im sure you had good reason. Right???

Cypress is great for mounts! It resists decomposition for a long time, like cedar. The knees make especially interesting shapes.

You can cut pieces into all different shapes and sizes. I bet you can even sell some. I also think it may be one of the longer lasting type mounts made from real wood. Good luck.
