I know this is an old thread but I think it's great to follow along with a long time project & watch it evolve. What a year can do. This time last year it was still a piece of wood laying on the ground at a nursery!

Here is an update. The CTNA Brandi OC has 2 spikes getting ready to bud out and for sure 1 new spike peaking out of the sheath and maybe 1 more thinking about it. I'll know about that one in about a week. I even caught the bug patrol on duty Check out "My New Driftwood Project" in the mount threads too. It is different than this one. More interesting areas to play with. Since this project is self sufficient I just had to do one more challenging. The new one is on the northside of my house and exposed to all elements. This one is in a pool screened enclosure

Woow, impressing! I can't wait to see blooms on this tree! I wished I could grow orchids outdoors like this.
Thanks for sharing again!

You did have to pick and choose. The wood on some wasn't as nice, like you said. Also they had different amounts of rings. I chose two that had six rings each and added a few more to them.

I just love your piece of wood though. That will be awesome when it's finished.
Hi,
I was reading your post about the bromeliad rain tree. I am also trying to make one but I'm having trouble finding the plant rings. Could you tell me where you purchased your plant rings please?
Thanks so much,
Kim

Just a quick note that the rings Kim is looking for should be available at Home Depot. I have not used then but if you can't find them then I would suggest using "Hang a Pot " clips. You can nail or screw them into wood or use zip ties to hold in place. Getting the same effect and being able to move them when needed.
