I had another thought on this... if the spaghnum seems to dry too fast, you could add a tiny bit of potting soil or peat moss to it. Back to what happens in nature... down in those cracks in the rock, there is moisture and rotting detritus to nourish the roots. So if the sphagnum seems too "inorganic", perhaps just add a pinch of additional organic matter to it.

Today it seemed to me that the dowiana was fading. I pollinated her with Sophronitis pygmyaea pollinies frozen in summer. And I froze very large dowiana pollinies (4 flat thin plates) in the freezer. Sofronitis pygmyea has 3 new growths, I hope he will have at least one flower. And Sofronitis mantiqueira (in fact, it is riograndese) seems to have outlined a bud. He has a great lemon yellow lip and the same lemon yellow lip with velveteen at the beginning of the dowiana, a hybrid with another fabulous lip is possible

That would be a wonderful hybrid, if you can get that beautiful lip on a small plant! What a huge range of plant sizes. If these were dogs, what would one get crossing a St. Bernard with a Chihuahua ?

you would hopefully get cited but the authorities bc that breeding would be cruel

i had a corgi/GSD mix and we always wondered how that romance unfolded...

Well, the mother would have to be the St. Bernard... when I see how small a panda cub is in relation to ITS mother, the puppy would be pretty small but hopefully mom would at least notice it.
