You did capture the gold, especially on the dark one. It is very difficult to photograph. These are so spectacular in the sunlight, they sparkle.

You definitely need one of these... they don't need much light, and grow nicely with house temperatures in my experience - they actually do better in the house than in the greenhouse.

Macodes's gold shines better in reflected light. They need shadow in the cattlea's light. SH is good idea, but they like more forest debris, moss, pieces of bark, little pebbles.

I have mine at the very bottom of my cloud forest now. It’s like SH with a constant flush
Super fun plant. I’ve never seen the dark one
