Louisiana greenhouse; location?
I'm putting together a 12ft by 7ft greenhouse at the end of this week, which may end up just as a shade house. It is made from polyethylene. I have been analyzing every area of my yard to figure out where I should place the greenhouse. Keep in mind that summers in Louisiana are brutal and the winters are mostly pretty mild.
I have 3 locations that I have been contemplating:
1) Southeast facing spot that gets sunlight from 7am-1pm
2) South facing spot that gets sun from 8am-4:30pm
3) South facing spot under a Crape Myrtle tree that gets sun from 7am-10am, and 2pm-7pm.
I'm leaning towards location #3 because the tree blocks the hot sun at the hottest part of the day. Half the greenhouse gets more sunlight in the afternoon though but that could be a good thing to have variation for different species. I just have always read that I should put a greenhouse in full sun all day long, but Louisiana is SO hot and I'm not too worried about the winter.
I already ordered 70% shade cloth and 50% aluminet that I will play around with by the way. I don't have a clue what to expect in terms of sunlight in the greenhouse. I am paranoid that everything will burn.
