Watering setup in my greenhouse Female
Default Watering setup in my greenhouse

Hey everyone,
It's my first greenhouse, and I'm wondering about two watering needs I have and how best to go about setting up my systems.

For cooling purposes, I have a misting system. This will be hooked up to city water, so ideally it will never hit my orchids. Some people say to hang this system below your orchids so the mist hits the ground and evaporates up. Some people say to place this along the ceiling and let the mist evaporate into the air that way. I should mention that I live in humid SC, so the mist might not all avaporate before hitting the orchids if hung from the ceiling. I'm afraid I'll get buildup on the leaves if I do it this way.

Secondly, I have a drip irrigation system for automatic watering. I like to hand water so I can keep a close eye on my plants, but I'll be out of town for a week this summer and want to have everything set up to take care of itself while I'm away.

So this is my dilemma. Do I use the misting system to water everything while I'm gone (and open up the valves to "rain down" on my orchids), and use the drip system to keep the greenhouse cool? Or do I use the irrigation system to water the orchids and just buy add-on after add-on for the system to have enough for every orchid? Also, how would I keep my mounted orchids watered this way?

Any help is greatly appreciated!
