Orchids to grow in a greenhouse during summer?

Hey,
I live in an assisted living facility that doubles as an organic farm (we have cows, chickens and sheep, but we also grow vegetables of various kinds), and I was just promised a spot of my own in one of our greenhouses - I'm ecstatic!

But I'd like to know if you have any suggestions as to what I could grow there? I plan on putting up a humidity tray if necessary, but otherwise, I'd like something that isn't all that hard to keep (I like to be around and care for my plants, but I don't want to fuss about extra lighting, etc). Anything with pink or purple blooms would be awesome, but as long as they're not dull-looking plants, I'll be happy.

I'm guessing if vegetables are being grown, light will be on the bright side ... ? Intermediate - warm temps?

greenhouse come in many forms and needs for specific conditions. I think you need to take some recon thru it and take some temps humidity and light readings before you buy too many orchids.

If you want to be less scientific about it buy what you like and make it work for you.

Light will be bright, but I'll make sure they're not getting too much direct sunlight. Temperatures can vary from 20-30 degrees Celsius during the day to 15-20 during nighttime.

The veggies we're going to grow are tomatoes, bell peppers and cuecumbers.

Pink and purple should be easy enough to find ...
Maybe some compact Catt hybrids? I have an Lc. Angel Love x C skinnerii that is pretty easy going care wise, purple-pink blooms. Takes heat, takes cool temps.

Vandas. They love lots of light and the purple ones are usually cool tolerant, although probably not below 50F. Look for one with coerulea in its parentage. They do like to be watered frequently, though.

Thank you! I'll look into Vandas - I don't have any in my collection yet, so getting a few Vandas would be perfect!

Even though you have long hours of light at this time of the year, the long hours of darkness during the winter can make it difficult to bloom true Vandas reliably. Ascocendas should be a little easier at your lattitude.
